From this screen we budget for Planned and Non-planned Repairs. By taking the best
case and worst case of when a repair might happen we make sure that you have budgeted
for those costs of running a truck or vehicle.
Each mile a truck covers has three types of cost.
- Immediate costs for things like fuel and the driver cost.
- Near future costs which are highly predictable costs for planned maintenance like
oil and filter changes
- Distant costs for future repairs like brakes, engine components, or in-frame overhaul
It is important to plan and set aside money for these distant but highly probable,
future repairs.. Each mile your truck runs, it consumes a potion of a components
life and brings you closer to the cost of these repairs. This Non-Scheduled Repair
Reserve is defined as money set aside for repairs that are largely unknown as to
exactly when they will occur. An example of this would be an engine rebuild. An
engine rebuild may be necessary at 150,000 miles or 250,000. So how does an owner
set aside the correct amount of money for repairs? DecisiveCost for Trucks has tools
that make calculations easy. The built-in Repair Cost Calculator is where this cost
is calculated.
DecisiveCost Truck suite features tools to help you determine your trip cost per
mile. You can view some of the truck screens below:
